This is an interesting match-up, Rihanna has been named the Creative Director of Puma, overseeing the women’s vertical. “Rihanna will work with Puma to design and customize classic Puma style, as well as create new styles to add to the Puma product portfolio,” the company said Tuesday. It is said to be a multi-year partnership, which I imagine equals big money for Rihanna. She is also said to act as the brand’s Global Ambassador alongside Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and football star Mario Balotelli, in addition to starring in the brand’s add campaign for 2015.

Puma is one of my favourite brands so I’m glad to see it get the attention. Another celebrity who supports Puma is Toronto’s own, Deadmau5. Besides Beyonce, I would say Rihanna has the highest influence on fashion in the music industry for chicks.

Disaronno has collaborated with one of the world’s most reputable fashion houses. The DISARONNO wears VERSACE limited edition bottle is a collaboration between two iconic Italian brands.

Combining the classic shape of the Disaronno bottle with the signature decadence of Versace fashions, the design takes its inspiration from he blue, gold, and white motifs of the Versace home collection.

The project supports “Fashion 4 Development”, a charity sponsored by the United Nations that creates opportunities for women working in the fashion industry in developing countries.

This one of a kind collectors’ edition bottle is now available in stores around the world, so make sure to pick one up now for yourself or as a gift to that fashion forward family member this holiday season!

I have always been a big fan of Kanye West’s fashion sense, except for the skirt thing but I get it. One of his most notable pieces to date is the H&M x Versace collaboration bomber that he debuted at his performance for the VS Fashion show a few years ago.

The Versace for H&M collection was always going to be a hit, its unmistakable pedigree whipping up a frenzy before the colourful clothes even hit shelves. This jacket in particular has skyrocketed in appreciation since its debut. Originally $129.99 in-store, it was selling for $800 on eBay the very next day. Now, if you search on eBay you would be lucky to find one for sale.

About a month ago my good friend Passion Daisy, another Toronto fashion blogger was fortunate enough to find me one these staple pieces at a thrift shop on Queen St. W. in Toronto. I scooped it for $80! Once I got home I checked it’s current value on eBay and there was only 1 available for $1300 which has already been sold.

The moral of this story is you never know what you can find in thrift shops!

Drake Opens OVO Store in Toronto

Toronto born rapper Drake is set to open his first brick-and-mortar store front for his label October’s Very Own, or OVO, this weekend. The store will be located in Toronto’s Trinity-Bellwoods neighbourhood at 899 Dundas St. West. According to a tweet sent from the label’s Twitter account, doors will open on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Last month, Drake sparked rumours of a possible store front for his clothing line after he posted a photo to Instagram of a sleek looking building featuring the OVO logo. The photo was captioned: “Proud of my guy @oliverelkhatib OVO Store opening soot #6side,” referring to the label’s creative head Oliver El Khatib. The hashtag “6side” likely refers to Toronto, which Drake nicknamed “The 6.” It’s unclear what the origin of the nickname is, but some suggest that it may refer to the city’s area codes, 416 and 647. Others have also suggested it references Toronto’s amalgamation of six areas: Toronto, Scarborough, North York, East York, York and Etobicoke. Drake has opened pop-up stores in the past, but this would be his first physical store.

The Ray Ban Clubmaster’s offer a classy vintage style to compliment your wardrobe.

They come in black or tortoise with gold framing. The frames were famous back in the 50’s and 80’s and are now making a major comeback.

5 Panel Hats

Just like the snap back, 5 panels have also made a comeback into the fashion world. I would say this is due to hip-hop influence, particularly Tyler the Creator. The formation of the hat makes for a more comfortable fit and they incorporate an old school feel with the buckle style fitting strap.

Many of the major labels have their own 5 panels now so you can rep whoever you like. One company I’d like to point out is Toronto’s own Birth of Heroes Co. Their Hawaiian themed hats look dope and I can’t wait to add a few to my collection.

In between hair cuts I find I spend so much time contemplating, “what to do next?” It’s hard trying to find a cool hairstyle that’s conventional for men, because you want it to be both professional for your nine to five, yet edgy enough for the club afterwards. Here is a couple styles I’ve noticed lately that do the trick.

First, is the Disconnected Comb-over. Much like the traditional nerdy comb-over, this style incorporates edginess by shaving the back and sides to create that drastic, defined look. The hair is taken aggressively close on the sides and back typically with a number one blade. This clipper section is taken high up to the point where the head begins to round on the sides. The back is clipped up to the crown and the top is left about four inches long to create that definite disconnect between the sides and top. Some people even go as far as running the the clippers up the comb-over line to give it that extra thick line for definition.

For styling, I always recommend running cold water through your hair first, comb it over (you can use a blow dryer is used to give height in the front), and then add a bit of styling product (preferably matte for a nice texturized look without the shine).

The second hairstyle I’d like to mention is a hybrid between the disconnected comb-over and Sons of Anarchy’s, Jax Teller’s slicked back look. This hairstyle was made popular by David Beckham like every other hairstyle in the past 5 years. If your ever looking for fashion inspiration he is usually a good go to guy. After all, he did end up with the hottest Spice Girl.

Denim Dress Shirts

Denim dress shirts look classy and stylish but they can be hard to match with your pants. You don’t want to look like you’re in a blue jean suit. What works best is a fresh pair of black or white pants. If you want to try something edgy go for a pair of camo pants or a nice shade of Khakis.

You can pick up a shirt at any thrift shop if your looking to make it unique and customize it with patches or studs. Otherwise, H&M or American Eagle carry them for roughly $40. They come in different shades and washes.

The denim dress shirts are a unisex item these days. They look especially good on girls when they got it tied in a knot at the front with a black skirt on and some gold accessories.. But that’s just me. Either way, these shirts are a good item to have in your wardrobe for any occasion.

Camo Pants

One my favorite pieces that can pretty much go with anything is a solid pair of camo pants. These have become increasingly popular since Drake and The Weeknd began incorporating them into their style. Nonetheless, they are dope.

There are many different styles and colors out there that you can choose from. From traditional black and green to black and yellow. They can get pricey, your local thrift shop or army surplus store is your best bet.

For the best look, I would recommend a fitted pair to avoid the awkward bagginess the traditional pairs will give you. The vintage look works well with camo pants as well.

With the chilly weather now its hard to stay warm and fashionable. One of my personal favorite looks is the denim vest over a black hoodie. An inexpensive way to get one is to pull a Macklemore and hit up your local thrift shop and grab a jean jacket with water ever wash you prefer and DIY.

  1. Pick a denim jacket that you don’t mind cutting. If you don’t have one, take a trip to a thrift or vintage store and find one there
  2. Cut off your sleeves, following the seam of the arm. Leave about an inch of material between the sleeve and the seam. This will make it easier to cut a precise line at your seam
  3. Now, take your scissors again, and cut the remainder of your sleeve off, getting as close to the seam as possible.
  4. Don’t worry if your edges don’t look perfect. Washing your new vest will fray the edges slightly and leave your vest with a cool, vintage feel
  5. For a more polished look, flip your jacket inside out and use a seam cutter to undo your seam, this will take more time but will result in a more precise cut
  6. If you have any stray fabric, trim it up with the scissors

You can either leave it the way it is or add some golden studs or patches such as the traditional American flag. Now throw it over your favorite hoodie and your good to go!

It will even look dope on your girlfriend too.
